FOCUS is a three-day community orientation program that provides a condensed version of the year long Leadership Palm Beach County Adult Program. This program is geared towards key executives and professionals whose schedules do not permit the nine-month commitment, as well as for those executives who are new to the area.
FOCUS program objectives are to:
+ Broaden participants’ working knowledge of the community
+ Introduce them to “movers and shakers” in the County
+ Expose them to the County’s strengths, issues, and initiatives
+ Challenge them to become involved in community issues
FOCUS offers:
An opportunity to learn a great deal about the issues and problems of the community and how it functions, with a minimum expenditure of time. It is especially valuable to executives for whom the demands of work have precluded participation in the more time intensive LPBC Adult program. Participants gain the knowledge to effectively target their volunteer efforts and learn how they can personally or corporately assist with the concerns of the community.
Who should apply?
FOCUS is designed for executives and other key individuals from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors who are interested in learning more about the inner workings of the community, and who are eager to establish civic relationships.
FOCUS 2010 will take place January 21, 28 & 29, 2010. Apply on-line at www.leadershippbc.org/events today! Individuals with questions about the FOCUS 2010 program should email the LPBC offices with their request: info@leadershippbc.org.

FOCUS 2009 Recap
Chairs: Graham Ernest-Jones, Kim Jones, Ike Powell & Nancy Proffitt
The core FOCUS team returned to the committee, bolstered by a significant number of Class of 2008 graduates, to execute an exceptional program and a strong recruiting effort for FOCUS 2009. Several new topics were covered - including the issue of ethics - and evaluations returned more positive feedback in terms of content and quality of learning experience. The committee also secured a record number of sponsors in support of the program and receptions.
This year's class went above and beyond in the "class spirit"
department. Extending well beyond enthusiasm during the class, FOCUS 2009 held a reunion at LEA 2009 - just narrowly losing out to the Adult Leadership Class of 2009 in a competition for the most class members in attendance. A significant number of FOCUS 2009 class members applied and were accepted into the Adult Class of 2010.
FOCUS 2010 kicks off January 21, 2010 with Orientation, followed by two full session days January 28 and 29, 2010. Register for FOCUS 2010 today at www.leadershippbc.org/events
