Join the Office of Community Revitalization (OCR) and internationally recognized community-building leaders John McKnight and Mike Green for an engaging and interactive learning event focused on Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) principles. The workshops will be held at the Clayton Hutcheson Agricultural Center, 559 N. Military Trail, in West Palm Beach. Breakfast and lunch will be served.  Deadline for registration is Wednesday, March 26, 2014.

For Public Sector Officials, Government & Other Agencies

 

Effective Community Partnerships: “Leading by Stepping Back”

THURSDAY, APRIL 3, 2014

9:00 am - 4:30 pm

 

This is a one-day workshop tailored for public officials, government and other agencies to Ignite Residents for Action and Engagement. This one-day learning experience will familiarize participants with the basic concepts of Asset-Based Community Development. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the role government and other agencies can play to achieve resident action and engagement. Participants will learn about a powerful approach to rediscover local assets and mobilize citizens to action for more self-reliant communities.

 

Who will Benefit from this Experience?

·         People seeking to develop more connected and engaged local communities, and achieve fuller inclusion of people they support.

·         Public officials, police officers, code enforcement officers, planners, neighborhood organizers, non-profit leaders and other neighborhood support staff; and

·         Local government and nonprofit agencies who want to develop creative more powerful ways of partnering with their communities.

This is a two-day workshop that will benefit neighborhood residents, community organizers and nonprofit leaders by familiarizing them with the basic concepts of Asset-Based Community Development, define the capacity of their current organization to create community change, envision their own ability to act within that envi­ronment, and create an action plan to engage their communities.

·         Community organizing, community builders and resident service staff from nonprofit organiza­tions;

·         Community association members and leaders; and
