Dear LPBC Alumni,
AS ALWAYS OUR MISSION REMAINS to educate and unite leaders to build a better community through our four core programs, popular signature events, and philanthropic civic engagement work.
As we have since 1983, we continue to make a positive difference in Palm Beach County. Over the past year, both the Executive Committee and Board of Governors have worked to expand the breadth of our leadership programs and events while improving their quality and execution. We expanded our public outreach by increasing our social media footprint and we updated our bylaws to create the Board Development Committee (BDC) which will allow us to be purposeful and strategic in how we fill future vacancies on the Board. Most significantly, we recruited a truly dynamic and passionate leader in Noel Martinez, our new Executive Director. Noel, a 2014 alumni and past Board member, has extensive experience in growing the operations of nonprofit organizations through event planning and thoughtful fundraising initiatives. Most importantly, he embraces our core values and will be a game-changer in furthering our organization's mission to educate and unite leaders to build a better community.
These changes have already been producing quantifiable results. Recruitment for the ENGAGE program has increased by 16% over last year, the FOCUS program was completely sold out, GROW graduation attendance increased by 25% over last year, and we successfully attracted more than 80 up-and-coming leaders to the inaugural year of our leadership development program, ASPIRE. We also invested nearly 1,000 hours into our civic engagement projects. To date, we have seen more than 1,700 alumni graduate our adult program and we have led more than 1,500 student leaders to graduate from our youth program, providing more than $120,000 in scholarships cumulatively. Forthcoming this year, the Board of Governors will continue to target five Strategic Imperatives: strong programs, engaged alumni, enhanced brand identity, increased investments and solid operational foundation.
This past June 8th we celebrated the Leadership Excellence Awards and the graduation of our 2017 ENGAGE class participants. What a momentous way to end the year and kudos again go to our 2016-2017 President, Nancy Proffitt, for her zealous leadership and dedication to our organization!
Lastly, I am both honored and humbled to take on the tremendous responsibility of President. I am committed to the success of our organization and would love to hear from you if you have suggestions, thoughts, comments or perhaps are interested in volunteering at any of our events. Feel free to contact me here and let's make this a remarkable year together!
Onward and upward,
President, Board of Governors
