LPBC 2010-2011 Committees & Descriptions

 

ADULT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Goals:  To provide information to local emerging leaders and to equip them with the knowledge of various issues, needs, challenges and initiatives occurring in our county.

Actions to Accomplish Goals:  Develop and implement a 9-month program for a select, diverse group of community leaders from different geographic areas within the county (work in partnership with LPBC ED).

 

ADULT CLASS PROJECT COMMITTEE

Goals:  to ensure successful selection and execution of project for the Adult Class.

Actions to Accomplish Goals:  a) To steer the development and dissemination of the Class Project RFP, to provide guidance for proposing organizations as they develop proposals, and to select Class Project finalists for the Class;  b) to guide the Class through selection, then execution of the Class Projects (work in partnership with Class Members, LPBC ED and community organizations).

 

YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Goals:  Prepare promising high school juniors for future challenges through chance to interact with fellow leaders, obtain understanding about diversity & communications, & foster interest in civic engagement.

Actions to Accomplish Goals:  Develop and implement a 7-month program for a selected, diverse group of high school juniors from different geographic areas within our county (work in partnership with LPBC ED).

 

FOCUS PROGRAM

Goals:  To provide community leadership orientation for busy executives & professionals new to the area.

Actions to Accomplish Goals:  Develop & implement a 3-day program for a diverse group of community leaders from different geographic and service areas within our county (work in partnership with LPBC ED).

 

SONGWRITERS IN THE ROUND COMMITTEE

Goals:  To provide a venue for LPBC alumni to reconnect with the organization and their colleagues while providing a unique cultural experience & raising funds to support YOUTH Leadership Palm Beach County.

Actions to Accomplish Goals:  All aspects of producing event - coordinating with songwriters to setting up venue to executing successful show & songwriter visit to G-Starr (performing arts charter school).

 

LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE AWARD COMMITTEE

Goals: to identify & recognize LPBC grads who exemplify the award attributes.

Actions to Accomplish Goals:  Work closely with ED to implement the nomination process, identify and contact event sponsors and coordinate an event to spotlight the nominees and the award recipient.

 

UP CLOSE & PERSONAL/ISSUES FORUM COMMITTEE

Goals: a) Provide LPBC alumni with access to key community leaders in an intimate one-to-one setting to discuss issues and concerns in specific areas and b) To partner with community organizations to further LPBC’s core purpose and provide alumni and graduates with issues forums on variety of hot topics.

Actions to Accomplish Goals:  a) Identify key community issues (insurance, worker’s comp., etc.) & presenters per topic, develop meeting schedule, obtain venue, & invite alumni through partnering w. E.D. b) Identify opportunities for partnership & collaboration to enhance LPBC’s position within the community.  Develop & implement 2-4 forums annually to allow alumni and graduates unique access to people who can speak to key issues.  Work with ED to establish and support partnerships benefiting the organization.  

 

RECRUITMENT COMMITTEE

Goals: To ensure qualified applicants for the Adult Leadership Program and the FOCUS program.

Actions to Accomplish Goals: Identify key community leaders as potential applicants for programs. Develop and implement recruiting activities to ensure a diverse and qualified pool of applicants.

 

ALUMNI RELATIONS COMMITTEE/CLASS AMBASSADOR COMMITTEE

Goals:  increase & personalize communication with alumni about key LPBC & community events; reconnect alumni with fellow class members & other alumni; encourage alumni commitment to LPBC & our county.

Actions to Accomplish Goals:  utilize Class Ambassador Program to personalize invitations & facilitate connections; partner to design and execute alumni networking events (educational and/or social); etc.

 

MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE

Goals:  To develop & execute a communication plan containing strategies to enhance the image of LPBC.

Actions to Accomplish Goals: Working with ED, develop & implement work plan to increase communications about LPBC & ensure all messaging consistently reflects the LPBC mission and vision.

 

GET REAL PROGRAM (PARTNERSHIP WITH PBC SCHOOLS)

Goals:  Provide forum for LPBC grads to lend expertise/resources directly to Career Academy Coordinators to help PBC Schools deliver excellent & relevant education specific to job/career training & college prep. 

Actions to Accomplish Goals:  Participate in school visits/job shadowing; invite school personnel to visit job site for shadowing; engage with committee & ED to establish additional goals & objectives.

 

LPBC SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE

Goals:  Provide opportunities for alumni to gather to celebrate special occasions throughout the year.

Actions to Accomplish Goals:  in partnership with LPBC staff, plan Leadership Luau to kick off the year, and the LPBC holiday party to celebrate the season. 

 

ETHICS INITIATIVE

Goals:  Support ongoing work of Ethics Initiative to build a culture of ethics in Palm Beach County.

Actions to Accomplish Goals:  Work in partnership with committee and designated community representatives on one of three subcommittees which will a) develop a written ethics statement/code;  b) form a task force for “enforcement” of the ethics code throughout our county;  c) communicate the work of the committee, and invite participation from individuals, communities & organizations from across PBC.
