Leaders in Schools

Alumni Making a Difference in
Palm Beach County Schools

Leaders in Schools was an alumni program that matched interested LPBC alumni with schools whose Career Academies aligned with their professional skills and experience.

The program offered a variety of ways to get involved: serving on a Career Academy advisory board, planning and implementing the academy's educational program, offering a job-shadowing opportunity, or even judging a district-wide competition such as the 2012 High School Ethics Bowl.

"As a judge at the Palm Beach County School District Ethics Bowl, I was able to challenge the responses of bright high school students to real world ethical problems, based on my real world experience, while they challenged mine based on their perspectives."

How to get involved:

“I cannot say that I have ever had a bad day volunteering. In fact, if I am having a bad day, volunteering makes it better because you cannot help but forget about your troubles when you are focused on helping someone else. I love volunteering with Leaders in Schools because I love helping kids.”

                 - Terrill Pyburn, Former Co-Chair, Leaders in Schools Program
