This eight-month program is delivered free of charge each year to at least 45 high school juniors in
Palm Beach County. Each high school Principal may nominate up to two students to represent his/her school. All students interested in participating are invited to contact their schools during the summer preceding their Junior year to submit their name for consideration as one of their school's nominees. Selection decisions are finalized by late August of the summer preceding the start of the program. All Palm Beach County schools are eligible to participate in the program. Youth Leadership Palm Beach County receives lead grant support from The Comcast Foundation and the Sun-Sentinel Children's Fund, along with significant operating support from the Songwriters in the Round benefit presented by Roger Dean Chevrolet.

Youth Leadership of Palm Beach County Class of 2011
The Class of 2011's graduation ceremony was held on May 18, 2011 at the Hilton Palm Beach Airport. After sponsors and volunteers were recognized and dinner was served, Ed Chase, President & CEO of the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce gave a humorous and inspiring speech on life and leadership. Towards the end of the evening, YLPBC Chair Eric Hopkins and LPBC President Ron Harbison presented scholarships ranging from $1,000-$1,500 to seven deserving students. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Mr. Hopkins presented the Class of 2011 with their certificates and thanked them for a wonderful year. It was a fun and exciting night for the Youth Leaders, their families and schools to reminisce about the past year and thank those who made it possible.

Leadership Palm Beach County was pleased to award seven participants from the Youth Leadership Class of 2011 scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $1,500 at their graduation ceremonies on May 18th, 2011. This year out of a class of 47 students we had 34 applications. Thanks to the generous support of the annual gifts from Sid & Annette Stubbs, The Attorneys of Jones, Foster, Johnston & Stubbs, Forte Interactive and Songwriters In The Round presented by Roger Dean Chevrolet. A special grant from The Monsanto Fund allowed LPBC to give two additional $1,250 scholarships bringing the total awarded to $9,000. Congratulations to our 2011 scholarship recipients. |
