How did you get involved in Leadership Palm Beach County: My Dad and his girlfriend were graduates of Leadership Jacksonville and I had heard many positive things about Leadership

Who encouraged you to apply for Leadership Palm Beach County: My friend Barbara Benson-Wymer was after me for several years to apply.

How has Leadership Palm Beach County affected you:  Although I have lived in Palm Beach County for over 40 years, I learned so much about this beautiful area and met the greatest people who are all so involved in making this a better place.

What is the best benefit that you have derived from your involvement with Leadership Palm Beach County: The people that I have met. I have made some great friends through this organization, many of whom I would never have gotten to know otherwise.

What you do for a living: I am a commercial real estate appraiser with Altair Appraisal Group.

What you like best about your job: Learning about a variety of businesses and real estate and meeting the people who run them.  The flexibility of my schedule allows me to volunteer, travel and be there for my kids.

Your education: I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism.

Your civic and community involvement: I have been on the board of directors of Leadership Palm Beach County for the past three years and coordinated the 2nd Wednesday program for Leadership Palm Beach County this past year.  I was on the board of directors of Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches for five years and Co-chaired the Cotillion for Junior League of the Palm Beaches for five years, I am on the Community Advisory Committee for Whole Foods Boca Raton. I coordinated a school wide event, Spring Fling at Henderson School for the past six years.

Your family: I have been married for 20 years to Steve Hill.  We have two children.  Our son Alex is 15 and our daughter Sydney is 13.

First job: Taco Viva in the old Boca Mall

Word that best describes you: Outgoing

Where we would find you on a Saturday afternoon: Hanging out with my family. 

Favorite way to spend time: with my family and friends.  Traveling, eating, shopping, volunteering

Would not leave home without: My little dog Ricky. 

Greatest extravagance: Kids!

Mentor: My Dad, who I miss greatly.

Most important lesson you've learned:  Don’t judge others – it feels terrible when you’re on the receiving end of someone judgment.

Life motto: Don’t worry – be happy!  Easier said than done for a worrywart like me.

Best vacation you have taken: Italy, Germany, Austria

Last vacation:  Omaha, Nebraska and Chicago for a family wedding.

Place you most want to visit: Thailand

Most interesting place you have visited: Florence, Italy

Favorite restaurant: Thai Sushi in the Cove

Last movie watched: Hot Tub Time Machine

Favorite TV show: Great Food Truck Race, Color Splash, Come Dine With Me,

Toughest decision: Following my Dad’s wishes to let him go after a massive heart attack.  I miss him every day.

Goal yet to be achieved:  To be more direct with people.
