LPBC Raised Nearly $25,000 for GROW at “Songwriters in the Round”

April 11, 2017

More than 500 music fans came out recently to Leadership Palm Beach County (LPBC)’s “Songwriters in the Round” event to enjoy top-notch songwriters from Nashville and support our GROW program.

The two-night stand featured four country music songwriters who told stories and sang songs in the “round” on a stage at The Harriet Himmel Theater in West Palm Beach to the delight of attendees sitting around tables just feet from the singers.

The March 2 and 3 event raised close to $25,000 for GROW, which is free for all high school participants. The nine-month program teaches high school juniors to understand the critical issues facing Palm Beach County while encouraging them to expand their leadership roles and build a life-long commitment to doing public good.

“’Songwriters in the Round’ is always one of LPBC's most highly anticipated events – and this year was no exception,” said Nancy Proffitt, president of LPBC.

Proffitt added: “We are grateful to our songwriters, our sponsors, our volunteers, and our community for supporting this memorable event. The turnout was wonderful and it will allow us to enhance our GROW program and create life-long leadership learning opportunities for the young participants.”

LPBC is grateful to the key sponsors of “Songwriters in the Round”: Roger Dean Stadium, Chevrolet (Presenting), GL Homes, Ewing Optical Corp, UBS, Wells Fargo, Ward Damon, Dignity Memorial, US Sugar, Billy and Dari Bowman, and FPL.
