Leadership Spotlight on Terry Gearing - Class of 1999

Alumni Relations Committee
March 25, 2013

Who encouraged you to apply for LPBC: Gayle Landen, Don Chester & Wes Cawley

How has LPBC affected you?
I’ve become more aware of issues that impact our local community.  I’ve had the opportunity to meet some incredible people and to learn more about many wonderful organizations.

What is your fondest LPBC memory?
There are so many…but one from our class retreat comes to mind.  David Bates fell out of his canoe!  In more recent years, my fondest memories are hearing the LEA recipients speak at the event.  They are always so humble. Reverend Pam Cahoon was very inspirational and certainly made us aware of the ‘food insecurity’ in our area.

What is something unexpected or surprising that you have derived from your involvement with LPBC?
I’ve made some wonderful friends, and have connected with important leaders in our community.  I never cease learning from others, both leaders and ‘worker bees.’

How have you stayed involved in LPBC since graduating?
I’ve served on the board previously and came back this year, participated with the Communications/Marketing Committee, and I helped create the Leadership Excellence Award program.  I have served on the LEA committee since its inception.

Where do you work and what do you do for a living:
