How does my child apply to the youth program?

Each year, LPBC works with schools throughout Palm Beach County to create a Youth Leadership class of approximately 45 high school juniors from diverse backgrounds. Students do not go through a traditional application process. Instead, we rely on school administrators, teachers, and guidance counselors to recommend students whom they feel will benefit from the curriculum as well as contribute meaningfully to the group. Any interested candidate for our Youth Leadership Program should speak to their principal and guidance counselor during the spring of his or her sophomore year.

Is FOCUS a prerequisite for the year-long leadership class?

FOCUS is not a required prerequisite for our Adult Leadership class. However, FOCUS is a great introduction to LPBC and many graduates of FOCUS go on to apply to and graduate from the year-long course. For those professionals who cannot commit a great deal of time or who are new to Palm Beach County, FOCUS is often the best option.
